How to Play

Simplified description of Caesar's Lions gameplay:

  • From the 13 Gladiator cards dealt to you, choose 6 Defenders (face down on the table) and 7 Attackers (your hand).

  • Take turns attacking opponent Defenders with your Attackers. You won't know what they are until you attack them - but once attacked, they remain revealed. Gladiator combat is resolved based on their weapons: sword breaks spear, spear penetrates net, net snares sword... but a defending lion defeats ANY Gladiator! If you win a matchup, continue; when you lose a matchup, your turn is over.

  • When you can defeat all 6 of an opponent's defenders, that opponent is eliminated.
You can also recruit more Gladiators, swap out Defenders, and collect a host of other special cards – including the chariot, the crowd's favour, or the hunter (who can defeat the lion but falls to any Gladiator). Last Gladiator standing wins!

Caesar's Lions is quick to learn and easy to play – but true mastery requires cunning, timing and intuition.
